Weeks of Change

This last weeks have been very interesting. In starting of July I attended an Economical SummerCamp in Svetagarorsk, which lasted for 5 days. During this period we had to make a presentation about our own countries and we performed many and diferent activities including lectures, nature walks, an excursion to Svetagorsk monastery and lots of interesting parties!

Regarding Alliance, we started to work for the birthday that will happen in September. At the same time, I started research on other projects. I went to Lugank to talk with the head of a planning related NGO (http://cityplan.in.ua/ ), and I inteed to participate in a conference about the topic of public access to Planning that will happen next week. I also plan to stay in Lviv for two weeks researching for a local institute in September.

Welcome to Donetsk!

My staying in Donetsk has been very pleasant and interesting. During my almost 3 months I had opportunity to know a new country – Ukraine, a country that was not very known for me. Here at Allliance I had the opportunity to receive many usefful trainings and also to provide a trainings about corruption for the NICE group.

Regarding my projects, I have three projects at the moment: to creat a speaking club at a local school, a a monthy bicycle event “Critical Mass” and to creat a social running club.

Education in Alliance

During our first two months of our volunteer experience at Alliance, we had the opportunity to receive many and interesting trainings related to different topics from management to health.

On the first month we got acquainted with the country´s culture (including how to deal with the natural cultural shock) as well as some formation related how to create and manage a successful business/project. In this regard, the classes provided by Dawn Talbert, about Marketing and Public Relations, were very important components.

During the posterior weeks we got more knowledge on how to manage a successful communication, with the help of Alona Karavai. With this, we learned the importance of different tools of communications (such as energizers, games or theatre) and which one is more appropriate to use according to the goal (debate models, conferences, workshops etc). For instance we learned the importance of connecting on different levels with the audience, such as the mental, physical or emotional.
